JP Music Festival- Bar Wars
In Part IV of The Ransom Note Podcast of the JPMF, the month of March 2015 at The Midway Cafe in Jamaica Plain held a very unique ceremony. The Bar Wars event. Held as a fund raiser for the JP Music Festival on Friday September 12, the Bar Wars served as the catalyst for kicking down the door to celebrate the survival of yet another hellacious New England winter. Starting two years ago, Rick Berlin was not warmly praised for this idea, however, during a meeting at The Galway House, the final push over the cliff came from a chance walk by from a waitress that voiced her enthusiasm – and to have thought that rallying a bunch of musicians AND bar tenders to show up on time? Unheard of – but Berlin pulled it off.
During the Winter of 2015, people needed to get out and do something. Cabin fever was so intense that we needed to go to the local pub or restaurant and have that pint of Guinness next to the fire at The James’s Gate, or have the Butternut Squash Ravioli at Ten Tables or just plain old, good, company at The Brendan Behan. We needed these places and the people that work there found their opportunity to give something back at the Midway Cafe for Bar Wars 2015.
